Elevations Adult Day Services is Hiring a Life Skills Trainer Near Las Vegas, NV

At Elevations, we seek a compassionate and dedicated Life Skills Instructor to join our team and support individuals with intellectual disabilities in acquiring essential life skills while fostering engagement and enjoyment within our diverse rooms and activities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, patient, and creative, strongly committed to enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). As a Life Skills Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in providing personalized instruction in basic skills, such as reading, writing, and math, to individuals at all different learning levels, as well as facilitating stimulating activities across various rooms, including our gym, movie room, game room, computer room, library room, and art room.

Responsibilities:

**Develop and Implement Lesson Plans:** Create and execute tailored lesson plans to teach basic life skills, including reading, writing, and math, to individuals with intellectual disabilities.

**Facilitate Engaging Activities:** Plan and oversee engaging and age-appropriate activities within our gym, movie room, game room, computer room, library room, and art room to promote socialization, sensory exploration, and leisure skills development.

**Provide Individualized Instruction:** Assess each individual's unique needs and abilities and provide personalized instruction and support accordingly, ensuring that learning objectives are met.

**Promote Independence:** Encourage independence and self-sufficiency by teaching practical life skills such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and money management.

**Create a Positive Learning Environment:** Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to learn and grow.

**Collaborate with Team Members:** Work collaboratively with other staff members, including special education teachers, therapists, and support staff, to develop and implement comprehensive support plans and ensure the holistic well-being of individuals.

**Monitor Progress and Provide Feedback:** Regularly assess individual progress and provide constructive feedback to individuals and their support networks to track growth and address areas for improvement.

**Promote Community Engagement:** Organize and facilitate community outings and social activities to promote community integration and enhance social skills development.

**Stay Informed and Updated:** Stay informed about best practices in special education, disability services, and relevant legislation, and continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or in a similar role is highly desirable.

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with individuals with IDD.

- Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of individuals.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

- Valid driver's license.
